When you learned how to knit and crochet you devoured every pattern you could find, looking at every blog you could find. You had a huge binder so full of patterns that the rings wouldn’t close all the way.

You love how one skein turns into endless possibilities, but does it? Looking at your patterns binder you notice one thing: all of them are either one or the other.

But you love both knitting and crochet, both in their unique textures and abilities and when you do one project your skills in the other might suffer. Because making a yarn project takes time. you want to keep your skills up in both crafts and celebrate your love for both crafts not just one at a time.

You deserve better. I can help.

Hi, I’m Nancy, the woman behind Yarn Equals. I create stitches, patterns, and tutorials on how to merge knitting and crochet together.

Have you ever thought?

  • I can only do both by sewing seams.

  • I can’t do it because I crochet left-handed and knit right-handed

  • I’m only a beginner, I can’t do that.

The first project I learned to knit was a hat, in the round. That year everyone got a hat for Christmas. But one hat I made was too short and I just learned how to knit, I didn’t know how to fix it!

I felt devastated and defeated.

That was, until I looked at my cast on. “That looks like something I could crochet in,” I thought. So a few rows of single crochet later, my hat was the perfect length and a passion was born.

I know how to crochet and knit and I love the textures of both. I want to celebrate that but when I asked for knit and crochet combination patterns at the novelty yarn stores, they looked at me like I was crazy. “There aren’t any,” they would repeatedly tell me.

So, if there aren’t any, I’ll make my own patterns and share them with my fellow knit and crochet lovers.

Join me on my journey to explore the strange new world of what I call, knitchet.

I’ve been combining knitting and crochet for over 15 years and I constantly get comments on my projects “Wow! looks so cool! I didn’t know you could do that!”

After years of making projects and giving gifts to friends and family in my knitchet style, I decided it was time to share my knowledge with you, my fellow yarn lover.

I want you to know how it feels to make a project as unique as you are. You know both knitting and crochet, that should be celebrated.
